SCHOOL TIME ACCIDENT INSURANCE PROTECTION:
The Polk County School Board purchases basic accident coverage for all Polk County Public School students. Basic accident coverage provides limited benefits for medical expense due to accidents that occur
during
the regular school term
while students are attending school classes and participating in activities that are exclusively school sponsored, school scheduled, school supervised and school funded by the Polk County School Board. Some Charter and private schools may also be registered to participate in this program.
The basic accident coverage provided by the school district does not cover non-school related accidents. To obtain coverage 24\7, for non-school related accidents during weekends, vacation periods and the summer months you can purchase the 24 Hour Basic Accident Insurance Plan.
OPTIONAL 24 HOUR Extended Coverage Accident Insurance Plan:
Parents can extend the basic accident school insurance plan to cover accidents occurring while at home, on vacation, and during the summer months when school is not in session, 24\7. The cost to extend coverage is $40. The 24 Hour Extended Coverage will go into effect when School Insurance of Florida receives your application and payment. 24 Hour protection will continue through the school year and 2009 summer months until August 18, 2009. Only full time Polk County students enrolled in Pre-Kindergarten through the 12th grade classes are eligible to enroll in the 24 Hour Extended Accident Insurance Plan.
